Walking in the Lakes

We are extremely well situated as a base for exploring the Lakeland fells. High Street, Kentmere, and the Eastern fells are the nearest, but the rest of the Lakes is only a short drive away.

If you like the high mountains then try such challenges as the Fairfield Horseshoe, the Kentmere Round or the Helvellyn Ridge. At a more sedate pace there are many low level walks and rambles in and around the village,
all with breathtaking views of the higher fells.

Most of the lakes are only a very short drive away and many have wonderful walks around them. Why not escape to the more tranquil parts and relax by the waters edge.

Alfred Wainright himself spent a lot of time in this part of the Lakes. Within walking distance is one of his favourite spots, Orrest Head, just above Windermere. It's only a few miles from us - you'll not be disappointed with the spectacular views.

Guided Walks

We can also arrange for a walking guide to accompany you and show you the best of what is on offer. This is a great way of getting the most out of your stay with us and takes the hassle out of route finding. Let our guide show you the best the area has to offer.
