At the end of a hard day on the fells what better than to relax by a log fire, eat delicious home made food and sample the delights of our wine list or selection of fine ales. In summer relax by the river in our peaceful beer garden, or soak up the evening sun on our terrace. A perfect way to finish the day!
Walking in the Lakes
We are extremely well situated as a base for exploring the Lakeland fells. High Street, Kentmere, and the Eastern fells are the nearest, but the rest of the Lakes is only a short drive away.
If you like the high mountains then try such challenges as the Fairfield Horseshoe, the Kentmere Round or the Helvellyn Ridge. At a more sedate pace there are many low level walks and rambles in and around the village,
all with breathtaking views of the higher fells.
Most of the lakes are only a very short drive away and many have wonderful walks around them. Why not escape to the more tranquil parts and relax by the waters edge.
Alfred Wainright himself spent a lot of time in this part of the Lakes. Within walking distance is one of his favourite spots, Orrest Head, just above Windermere. It’s only a few miles from us – you’ll not be disappointed with the spectacular views.
